Privacy Policy

This policy explains how 1000845699 Ontario Inc., an Ontario, Canada corporation (“we”), handles your information when you use Pet IQ. We aim to collect only what we need, to be straight about it, and to meet our obligations under Canada’s PIPEDA.
1. What we collect
- Pet profile: your pet’s name, species, sex, and your test answers. A pet photo and your pet’s Instagram handle are both optional — you can use the service without either. If you add an Instagram handle, we use it only to feature your pet (with your opt-in) in community features such as the Genius Wall; we never post on your behalf or pull your Instagram content. We treat pet details, photos, and handles as personal data.
- Account & contact: if you subscribe or sign in, your email address (entered at checkout or via Google sign-in) and, for Google sign-in, the basic profile Google shares.
- Payment: handled by Stripe. We don’t receive or store your full card number — only Stripe identifiers (customer / subscription IDs) and your subscription status.
- Usage & device: if analytics is enabled, product events (page views, test progress, feature use) and basic log / device data.
- Cookies & local storage: a small anonymous identifier that links your in-progress test to you, a sign-in session cookie, and — only with your consent — analytics cookies. See our Cookie Policy for the full list and your choices.
2. How we use it
To run the test and produce your result; to create and manage your account and subscription; to process payments and send receipts and service emails; to provide support; to understand and improve the product; and — only if you opt in — to send enrichment tips and updates.
3. Marketing emails are optional
Marketing email is separate and express opt-in — an unticked box at checkout, never bundled with your billing consent — consistent with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every marketing message identifies us, includes our mailing address, and carries a working unsubscribe link; you can opt out anytime. Receipts, billing, and account emails are transactional and aren’t marketing.
4. Who we share it with
We don’t sell your personal data. We share it with service providers who process it on our behalf, and where the law requires it:
- Stripe — payments & subscriptions
- Resend — transactional & opt-in marketing email
- Neon — database hosting
- Amazon Web Services — application hosting & storage
- PostHog — product analytics
- Sentry — error monitoring
- Google — sign-in (only if you use it)
5. Where it’s processed & how long we keep it
We are based in Ontario, Canada, but our infrastructure and service providers are primarily in the United States. Your information is therefore stored and processed in the U.S. (and possibly other countries), and may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, including lawful access by their authorities. We use reputable providers that offer appropriate safeguards.
We keep your profile and subscription data while your account is active. If a subscription lapses we keep your saved profile so you can reactivate without losing it — and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
6. Your rights & choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your information, withdraw consent, or opt out of marketing at any time — email support@mypetsiq.com. We don’t sell personal data or use it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Similar rights apply wherever you live, and you can escalate to your local regulator: in Canada, PIPEDA and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada; in Australia, the Privacy Act and the Australian Privacy Principles (the OAIC); in New Zealand, the Privacy Act 2020 (the Office of the Privacy Commissioner); in Singapore, the PDPA (the PDPC); in the EU/UK, the GDPR; and in the US, state laws such as California’s CCPA.
7. Children
The service isn’t directed to children under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal data.
8. Security & changes
We use reasonable measures, including encryption in transit and payment handling via Stripe, to protect your data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
We’ll post any updates to this policy here with a new date and, for material changes, give notice.
